Zoey (Yi) Zhou, an audio engineer, songwriter, and composer currently based in Baltimore, Maryland. Originally from Guangzhou, China, Zoey's music imbueds with a distinct Chinese aesthetic, reflecting her cultural heritage and unique perspective. With a deep-rooted belief in music's ability to evoke sentimentality, encouragement, and inspiration, Zoey's music serve as a poignant reminder for listeners to remain attuned to the beauty of our everyday world.

As an audio engineer, Zoey displays versatility across a range of genres, including jazz, R&B, and classical music, both in live concert recordings and studio environments. Proficient with industry-standard equipment such as the Neve 88Rs and Lawo MC. 56 mk II, Zoey has collaborated with numerous artists, expertly capturing the essence of vocal, piano, and ensemble performances at the Blackbird Studio in Nashville and the Heifetz International Music Institute.

As a songwriter and composer, Zoey's musical style transcends boundaries, seamlessly blending genres ranging from R&B and hip-hop to jazz and ambient electronic music. Inspired by the likes of FKJ, H.E.R., Erykah Badu, and Robert Glasper, Zoey's compositions reflect a diverse array of influences. Her instrumental composition "Abandoned" garnered recognition, achieving the third place in the prestigious Wavelength Peabody "Sound of Science" scoring competition in 2021.
Venturing into the realm of music programming, Zoey's innovative spirit shines through as she crafts interactive music installations using Arduino and Max/MSP. These projects utilize cutting-edge techniques such as ultrasonic sensors and bio-sonification, allowing participants to engage with music in unique and immersive ways.

Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Music and Recording Arts and Sciences at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, Zoey is poised to make a lasting impact on the world of music with her innovative approach and unwavering passion.
